We are fast approaching the 2012 presidential election, which promises to be a close contest between incumbent President Barack Obama and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. This is going to be a pivotal election that will determine the trajectory and fate of the nation. Obama and Romney have starkly different visions for America and how to restart her economic engine. Most elections tend to be a referendum on the incumbent, which could mean real trouble for the president come November. 47.2 percent of Americans approve of how Obama is handling the economy while 50.7 percent disapprove. 52.8 percent of Americans feel that the country is headed in the wrong direction. Furthermore, Obama has embraced gay marriage at a time when most Americans are opposed.
While these early indicators appear unfavorable to Obama, the nation hasn’t embraced Romney, at least not yet. 51 percent of Americans have an unfavorable opinion of Romney and 60.7 percent have reservations about Mitt Romney as the GOP presidential candidate. Obama seems to have scored a major political victory on June 28, 2012 when the Supreme Court ruled that Obamacare was constitutional. 55.4 percent of Americans believe that the new healthcare reform will have a positive impact on personal healthcare in terms of cost and coverage.

The American people are depressed & scared. Half our leaders are trying to help us recover; other half is trying to scare us & cause doubt & anxiety. We want to feel hopeful. Want to know things are improving however slowly. The economy is still not great. Too many un & under employed. But I will go with hope every time.
In my opinion, the nation’s problems are far too big to solve by way of voting, and I do NOT believe that a violent revolution is the answer either.
The last best hope for the USA is for the people to defund the federal government and start over from scratch.
