The History of the ATM [Infographic]

When was the last time you withdrew cash from an ATM? Last weekend? Today? How about this – when was the last time you thought about where the ATM came from, or how it became what it is today? Never?

If you’ve ever wondered where the technology came from that allows you to get cash from anywhere, at any time, check out this infographic. It details the history of the ATM, from its birth in 1962 New York as a cash deposit machine called a bankograph to incredible modern innovations, such as the first biometric ATM developed in Poland in 2010.

    Funnily enough I was listening to a radio article a few days ago posing the idea that in a few years cash in the west will be a thing of the past. If that became true then it would be a really weird world.
