Ditch the Tie, Dad Wants Bacon! [Infographic]

Father’s Day is ranked fourth among card-sending holidays in the US, racking up a grand total of 90 million cards every year. As for gifts, an estimated $117.14 million was spent on Father’s Day in 2012. This is a 10 percent increase from 2011.

Those gifts you’re giving dad may not be what he really wants. A survey of dads found that 35 percent of them want gifts that actually cost money and 13 percent want something electronic. Are material things really the key to dad’s happiness? Apparently not since 40 percent said that they want “quality time” with the family and 36 percent want to eat out with the family.

With these things in mind, what is the best gift for dad? Bacon.

Data shows that bacon is the number one item added to a meal in the US and Canada and its scent is in the top 10 list of favorite smells in multiple surveys. Bacon is what your dad really wants.
